Under the direction of the Division Administrator, Fisheries, the position is responsible for three program areas: The first is the Native Aquatics Program including native fish, amphibians, crustaceans and mollusks; administers various grant programs including State Wildlife Grants and Section 6; is lead for planning and work program development; represents the agency on various committees and working groups. The second is the native trout program which is responsible for overseeing the work program and activities for Nevada?s six native trout including recovery actions for the Lahontan cutthroat trout and bull trout as well as proactive programs on the other four species to enhance populations, improve habitat and prevent their listing. The third and final program is the Aquatic Nuisance Species program. Incumbent will initiate the development of a state-wide plan and is responsible for coordinating ongoing monitoring program, and representing the agency on various committees and working groups
To see full Class Specifications visit: http://dop.nv.gov/schematic1.htm To Qualify Education and Experience 1)Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in wildlife management, biology or closely related field and four years of professional experience that included organizing, planning and completing wildlife management studies, writing technical reports and preparing species or land use management plans and recommendations; OR one year as a Biologist III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. WILDLIFE STAFF SPECIALIST (01.712) Training and Experience Exam The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
